I enjoy every opportunity to play football with the Roving Cobras, I think it's well organised and good fun. Sunday beginners sessions are great, but I think Fridays have a lot of room for improvement, with some long term issues to resolve. 1. Sessions should begin and end on time, with warm up/down included in the hour. Sessions aren't cheap and we should get what we're paying for. 2. It would be nice for the coach to learn and use our names. 3. Punishments should not be given (or threatened) for making mistakes. It does not always feel like a space in which it's ok to make mistakes and be a real beginner. I want to have fun, I don't want to be told I have to run laps if I'm not good at something. He did actually tell us yesterday that we shouldn't be scared to make mistakes - mere minutes after he said I'd have to run laps as punishment for making the most mistakes in the previous activity. 4. In my opinion, the coach should not play in games, unless he is playing in goal (and only in goal) to make up numbers. I don't want to play football against a man, and I don't want to watch him hog the ball while the women who are paying to be here wait for an opportunity. Even when we have enough people for 5 a side, he adds himself to the game unnecessarily. 5. I wish only beginners would attend (this also applies to Sunday). Sometimes I'm doing exercises where I'm playing against a man and two higher level players, and I'm not sure why that is happening at beginner level or what that is teaching me. Those higher level players score the most goals and have the majority of the ball in games, which is a shame when those opportunities could be going to beginners.
